MIND’s theme for the 2008 annual conference was “We talk the talk – let’s walk the walk.” We twice made a visible witness with people wearing sandwich boards highlighting the theme and silently snaking up and down the aisles on the conference floor. Our guest speaker was Rev. Gil Caldwell, and MIND also organized its first-ever gathering of reconciling people of color, convened by Caldwell. It was the fourth year of our armband witness (to lift up those excluded from ordination by the church’s discriminatory rules), but the first year that we mailed an armband with a letter and a copy of “A 30-Year Witness” to all clergy members the week before conference.
